What if I cannot afford it? At ME, we understand that it may sometimes be difficult financially to access treatment. We also realise that at times of turmoil we may sustain financial setbacks. ME is dedicated to assisting our Clients break the cycle where their financial concerns hold them back from effectively addressing the underlying problem, which may be at the root of the financial concerns in the first place. Psychology is a helping profession, and we aim to be able to assist everyone who asks us for help. In order to address this situation and provide our Clients with the fairest solution, ME offers all first sessions to be bulk billed. As a result, our Clients are offered a risk free chance to evaluate our services and determine whether or not they connect with their therapist. Typically, at the first session, the ongoing fee is negotiated based on Clients’ circumstances. Please, be open with your therapist regarding your financial difficulties and we will do our best to accommodate for your needs. You may want also wish to consider that charges in excess of the Medicare benefit for our services are typically the Client’s responsibility. However, such out-of-pocket costs will count toward the Medicare safety net for that Client. Once you meet a Medicare Safety Net threshold, you may be eligible for additional Medicare benefits for out-of-hospital MBS services for the rest of the calendar year.
